It now represents about 15 percent of the $110 billion and rising sector in Asia, driven in part by growth in a number of national airlines serving a rising middle class. Japan accounts for about 26 percent of the Asian aerospace market, followed by China and India.

Wipro has so far identified four opportunities as part of an ongoing study the company is conducting. A first-of-its-kind in the industry, SEED is a 4 months training program for the entry level engineers. It is aimed at building a quality resource pool to support engineering programs of global clients.

The training program spreads over six months and encompasses design basics from premier engineering institutes with application examples, followed by industry visits and training on 3D CAD systems taught at real time tool rooms. The incumbents are exposed to visualization and appreciation of design concepts. This program is part of a much bigger 'strategic competency development' program spread over 2-3 years wherein Satyam would groom engineers into future designers / analysts in multiple engineering disciplines like Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics. Satyam thus will move up the product development value chain - from low end design support services to high end activities like conceptualization / design, analysis, embedded systems, system design, and the like.

Full story

Aer Lingus Group in final contract negotiations over maintenance services tender

Aer Lingus Group in final contract negotiations over maintenance services tender

21 Feb 2008

Aer Lingus Group PLC said it is entering into exclusive final contract negotiations with a number of suppliers following the competitive tender for the provision of the airline's maintenance services.

The Irish carrier said contract negotiations are being entered into with Dublin-based SR Technics for line activities; French firms Sabena Technics/TAT Group for base maintenance; Hatfield's Goodrich Corporation for wheels and brakes maintenance and Germany's Lufthansa Technik AG and Honeywell International for components maintenance and the provision of certain materials.

Source: Forbes

Rutter unit wins $2.9 million contract for B.C. clean power project

Rutter unit wins $2.9 million contract for B.C. clean power project

VANCOUVER _ Engineering company Rutter Inc. says its controls and automation division has won a $2.9 million contract for electrical engineering services and control systems for a clean power project in British Columbia.
